I got a DM(Direct Message) From a user last week that I had helped before that asked the question.  Should I use the free  WordPress.com or should I host my own site.

I will give a couple of reasons why either is a good choice.  I try to stay away from the cons unless it’s there are some really glaring issues.  But then if there are real problems I probably won’t say anything at all.

Reasons to Go with WordPress.com

1. It doesn’t cost you any money.  It’s FREE.

2. No updating, backing up, maintenance of the software.  That is huge.

3. Lots of things can be added to sidebars and posts from other sights and services.  Most of the time when you see a service or site will ingrate into wordpress.  They are talking about wordpress.com

4.  All the part of the theme work, and work on most browsers.

Hosting WordPress yourself.

1. Total Control

2. Ability to tweak themes to get exactly what you want.

3. Thousands of Themes and Pluging (with the ability to create your own if you want.)

4. Ability to add latest technologies to your site.

5. Make it look like a website instead of a blog.
