HERE’s one for the books that should make you shake your head in disbelief! I had a dept. manager at United Healthcare once, that addressed the whole dept. seated around the conference table who said the following: “I don’t know what you people do, I don’t want to learn what you people do, and I don’t need to learn or understand what you people do. I was brought here to manage, and that is what I know how to do – - manage you people.” We were running quite well without a manager, but we felt we needed an advocate relay our concerns and recommendations to depts. that did have managers. Also, other depts. were getting reviews for raises, and we thought we needed someone to speak on our behalf for those too. But we were all aghast by her little speach to us, because how was she to appraise our work performance?!?

I think some people think they have it all figured out. Many people, like myself for instance don’t. The one thing I have figured out is that my employer is buying me the ipad 2 when it come out next month.

I do agree with you that the rich and large corporations don’t pay their fair share of taxes. And it doesn’t seem fair that they get get to keep more than we do.

I just wish people would care more, and be more passionate about it, like you. Then maybe their would be change.

The premise of this post is totally flawed! We don’t want the rich to pay “OUR” taxes, We want them to pay “THEIR” taxes! Which they tend to be able circumvent in whole or part through Caymen Island holdings and other maneuvers of trickery both legal and illegal. Some very large companies have gotten away with not only circumventing tax laws, but in addition, outsourcing anyway, and sometimes even receiving inflated Government contracts, and subsidies (Corporate welfare that adds up to billions). If those Large corporations paid their fair share and didn’t take the handouts, that would probably go a long way towards creating greater economic balance , but until that happens…
not such a good day.

I totally agree with you that students and teachers in those situations can not be measured with the same ruler that is being using for mainstream students. My mother teaches kids with special needs too. In general my belief is that teachers should be paid more and that good teachers should be paid better than poor teachers.

At one time I thought that was a great idea. Then I had a in depth discussion with a teacher friend who taught special education students. Yea you know the slight mentally handicapped individuals. How in the heck can you evaluate those type of students with the main stream?
